Maintenance of Accreditation

ACGC released the revised Standards of Accreditation for Graduate Programs in Genetic Counseling, effective October 1, 2019. For more information, please see the Standards of Accreditation page. Please see the FAQs for additional information on the new Standards.

Ongoing Accreditation

Programs currently holding ACGC accreditation must file a Report of Current Status (RCS) by June 15 each year. This report must be reviewed and approved by ACGC in order to maintain accreditation.

Please click here for a copy of the 2020 RCS questions for reference. Please note that this is the 2020 Report of Current Status (RCS) form and is subject to change for 2021. Also, this form is for fully accredited programs.

Note: The RCS form is slightly different and shorter for programs that have the Accredited, New Program status. Also, programs complete only an abbreviated RCS form during the year that they are underdoing reaccreditation. To obtain these RCS forms, please contact Olesya Lamb at Olesya.Lamb@gceducation.org.

Reaccreditation

Program must undergo a process of reaccreditation at specified intervals, as determined by ACGC. During reaccreditation, programs much undergo a comprehensive self-study, submit an Application for Reaccreditation, and undertake a site visit from ACGC. Reaccreditation applications are due on August 1 of the year prior to the reaccreditation date of record for the program.
